Richard Sauvé

Chinese brush painting is one of my main interests and while I consider my talent modest, it does provide an enjoyable creative outlet. As well as having worked with many Chinese colleagues during my professional career, I have travelled to China, and practice/instruct Tai Chi, so the Chinese art forms are a natural extension. I was fortunate to have instruction over a seven year period from a Chinese master who has a studio here in Lindsay, Ontario. In recent years, I have participated in juried art shows and gallery exhibits where some paintings sold. In addition, I have provided paintings to charity fundraisers, completed a few commissioned paintings, but mostly give them as gifts to friends who have indicated an interest. Besides trying different styles of Chinese brush painting on xuan paper, I have experimented with some novel approaches using Chinese brush painting to obtain interesting effects.
